Management Systems
ISO-Xpert provides various services under management system development. A management system is the framework of processes and procedures used to ensure that an organization can fulfill all tasks required to achieve its objectives.
For instance, an quality management system (QMS) enables organizations to improve their quality conformance through a process of continuous improvement. An oversimplification is "Plan, Do, Check, Act". A more complete system would include accountability (an assignment of personal responsibility) and a schedule for activities to be completed, as well as auditing tools to implement corrective actions in addition to scheduled activities, creating an upward spiral of continuous improvement.
Also as in the aforementioned management system, an occupational health and safety management system (OHS) enables an organization to control its occupational health and safety risks and to improve its performance by means of continuous improvement whereas an Environmental Management System (EMS) enables organizations to improve their environmental performance through a process of continuous improvement
Examples of management system standards include:
- ISO 9001 Quality Management (QMS),
- ISO 14001 Environmental Management (EMS),
- ISO 22000 Food Security Management System (FSMS),
- ISO/IEC 27001 Information Security Management System (ISMS),
- SA8000 Social Accountability.
These services are either certification standard or system improvement related. It is not required to have certification or assessment against all management systems. There are various ways in which your supplier can claim that its management system meets the requirements of QMS, EMS, FSMS, or others. Since almost all management standards are voluntary in nature. These include:
- Supplier’s declaration of conformity
- Second-party assessment
- Third-party assessment
Additional confidence may be derived from the fact that some certification bodies (registrars) are accredited by nationally or internationally recognized accreditation bodies.
